Noble Vines 446 Chardonnay displays the traits that earned this vine stock its noble reputation: A crisp, elegant wine with notes of apple, citrus and toasty vanilla. Pair with seafood, creamy pastas and sautéed chicken.
Description
This bottle is a 2023. It’s a California Chardonnay, so I’m expecting a smooth, buttery, warm flavor prior to trying it. It was about $10 at the store when I bought it, and contains 14.5% alcohol. The appearance of the wine is a light shallow golden yellow.
Smell
I can smell this wine from a medium to close distance. The first thing that hits me is the aroma of apple and some pear. There’s a strong fruit smell, and I can tell that it’s a wine with a lot of citrus in it.
Taste
The first flavor I get from this wine is the vanilla and smoky oak. This is an oaked wine, which is made clear by the flavor as soon as it hits your tongue. The citrus hits the back of my tongue and I the flavor of apple is light, but definitely there. It’s a light flavor.
Analysis
The citrus coming from the apple and fruit doesn’t force the acidity too much. It’s balanced very well by the flavor of vanilla and the fact that it’s oaked. It’s not super acidic, and it’s an off-dry wine. This is a very well balanced wine, which is why it pairs well with lighter meats, seafood, and creamy pasta.
Conclusion
I really enjoyed this wine. I would love to have this with well marinated chicken. The wine is yummy, and I will be buying it again another time for myself or even maybe as a gift. I would rate this wine an 8.5/10.
